Washington -- ABC has got the rights for Warner Bros. Television‘s one-hour drama ‘Leap‘.
The show will be based on a non-fiction book ‘Leap! What Will We Do With the Rest of Our Lives?‘ by Sara Davidson, which revolves around how people deal with various turning points in their lives.
‘Leap‘ will be exec produced by actress/director/producer Goldie Hawn in collaboration with ‘Friends‘ creator Marta Kauffman and Davidson.
Hawn is also set to play the lead role, while Kauffman will write the script.
According to ABC Entertainment prexy Steve McPherson, Hawn and Goldie have picked up the basic idea of how people handle various crossroads.
"What Marta and Goldie did was take the simple premise of the book and put together this really insightful look at how two different generations deal with the big moments we all face in our lives," Variety magazine quoted McPherson, as saying.
McPherson revealed that they were waiting from a long time to work with Kauffman, and her collaboration with Hawn has finally been fixed.
"Everything she said felt so true and honest and compelling," he said.
The company‘s exec insisted that the show would not be like many other shows that portray the multigenerational ‘thirtysomething‘ concept.
"A lot of people try to do these multigenerational ‘thirtysomething‘-like shows, but they‘re never about anything. This is about something: What you‘re going to do with the rest of your life," he said. (ANI)
