Nelson Mandela discharged from hospital

After spending two nights at a hospital, ex-South African President Nelson Mandela is finally back home and is recovering.

It’s a major relief to the people who were concerned about their ‘hero’, as the doctors said that Mandela’s treatment went well and he was out of danger.

"His amazing positive attitude allows him to cope with the difficulties of old age with the greatest of grace," said Dr. Vejaynand Ramlakan, who heads the military doctor panel that is taking care of Mandela.

Though, he has been brought back home in Johannesburg, a medical team is still monitoring the condition of the 92-year-old, who began South Africa’s first black president after serving a political exile of 27 years.

Mandela’s respiratory illness is not new and he had experienced a similar condition eight years back.

Public panic caused over Mandela’s health
Called ‘Madiba’, Mandela’s hospital stay became a major concern for the public and as little information was made available about his hospitalization, the public panicked.

South Africa's Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe said that Mandela’s health status has not been made communicable to the general masses, the way it should have been and this caused anxiety among the ex-President’s fans.

"Madiba has received similar checkups in the past and it's never raised the same public panic it has now", said Motlanthe.

Relief restored after Mandela returns home
People heaved a sigh of relief, as the iconic figure of South Africa returned from his hospital stay.

University student Lerato Ledwaba said, “As a young person in South Africa, Madiba means the world to me - he is my inspiration to strive for a better life for myself.”

“He is old but we are not ready to lose him. I don't know if we'll ever have another leader like him," said another Johannesburgian, Karen van Rensburg.

Reports claimed that lately, Mandela has been seen very less in the public.
