Electric Frankenstein, the renowned American punk band from different areas of New Jersey, returns to Maxwell’s on Saturday in order to help raise awareness for Rett Syndrome, a sensory complication that targets young females.
The March 19 benefit event, named as “Scarlet Fever East”, will include an art and memorabilia auction starting at 6 p.m. followed by the music performances from 8 pm by Electric Frankenstein, the Tombstone Brawlers, the Skels, and ASOM.
All the proceeds of the show will go for the medical care of a Rett Syndrome sufferer Scarlett James, the daughter of Northern California Road Lords member Bob James.
Why the event
Rett Syndrome, a fatal disease related to nervous system, affects girl child between six and eighteen months of age mostly. Children, suffering from this deadly disease, often lose their speech and hand skills and develop convulsive attacks, irregular breathing, and motor control problems.
Saturday’s event at the Maxwell’s includes auction of autographed guitars contributed by the Berkeley ska-punk group Rancid, Metallica’s James Hetfield and Mike Ness of Social Distortion who are the supporters of Bob James and his daughter Scarlett.
Sal Canzonieri, Electric Frankenstein frontman, explains, “Our old bass player knows the members of Social Distortion and is active in a hot rod club with Scarlett’s dad. We got asked to be involved with this through him.”
Reaction of Electric Frankenstein
Electric Frankenstein, a New Jersey organization, has been entertaining people worldwide with more than hundred various singles, EP’s, and albums of different marks for over two decades, instead of mainstream reputation.
Canzonieri says, “Frankenstein never dies in the movies, and Electric Frankenstein never seems to die either. We’ve kept our fans because we’ve never changed what we do or what we love. There will always be people who want to hear rock ‘n’ roll and that’s what we give them.”
The style of Electric Frankenstein is popularly known as ‘High Energy Punk Rock & Roll’. They stitch the raw and energetic sounds of Punk Rock and Garage Punk together with metal, hardcore, rockabilly, and soul just like Frankenstein’s monster.
“We keep our fans because they don’t outgrow our sound”, added Canzonieri.
According to him, over the last twenty years they have played all over the world including the U.S. But this time, it is very amusing as well as exciting for them to play in Hoboken as they have only got to play at Maxwell’s only one or two times.
