From the days of bulky, bulging out of the pocket, with looks of a wireless set, to sleek, slim, trendy and feather weight the mobile handsets have come a long way. Mobile phones these days make lifestyle statement. The likes of Vertu, Motorazr, V3i Dolce and Gabbana phone are all envious possessions.
The mobile phones also have a huge utility value in this fast paced world. Technology as it is, does it all, in today’s era. The converged mobile phone has been threatening to overtake the entire market of portable devices such as portable MP3 player, PDA, digital camera, hand held gaming devise and a note book computer.
Thus one can possess an integrated mobile phone that takes pictures, shoots videos, plays music, has full PDA functionality, is a note book replacement, has E mail capability and plays games. What a beautiful dream. But this one in al leads to the proverbial jack of al trades, master of none. What a nightmare after spending thousands.
So while you feel that you are holding one gadget that serves the purpose of six gadgets, you later realize that the gadget does everything, but excels in nothing, leaving a very dissatisfied consumer experience. And then there are whole lot of new models being churned out by the technology companies harping about the added features the new models have, caring little about the consumer who has to dole out thousands more to possess the new advanced versions.
So then, the Sony Ericsson P990, Motorola Rokr E1Q, Samsung SCH B600, Nokia N-Gage QD, are big names, in vogue, possessed by the rich and are used for, among other things, making voice calls. The quest for finding a device that clubs the entire array of portable machines, with no compromise on quality, however remains. Lets wait for the next model.
