The Qwizdom interactive Classroom Response System was shortlisted for a BETT awards after facing stiff competition.

Qwizdom is proud to announce that it has been short listed for one of the most sought after awards in the UK education industry: the BETT Award 2005 in the category of Secondary Hardware.
The Qwizdom interactive Classroom Response System had stiff competition to reach this stage of the process as the BETT Awards have become the benchmark for educational Information Communications Technology (ICT) product development.

The Qwizdom system seems to generate much excitement wherever it is demonstrated. At its most basic, the system is akin to the ask the audience feature in the TV show Who wants to be a millionaire? The system encourages participation from all participants and can display results in a various graphical formats like a bar and pie charts. As it also tracks individual performance the teacher is able to print out reports and use the system to monitor class attendance.

Some minor features like the student having the option of being able to use a button on the remote to request help from a teacher, (without the need to draw attention to their lack of understanding by raising their hand) are very popular.

All activities can be linked to National Curriculum standards, and can therefore serve to enhance learning in key areas. Qwizdom has a range of key stage specific content designed to be used as interactive quizzes.

Paul Brown, the managing director of Qwizdom UK said in response to the short listing that: “To be short-listed for a BETT Award is an honour, we thank the users of our system for their recommendations and feedback as they have helped bring us to this point. Part of the Qwizdom approach is that learning and fun do not have to be mutually exclusive.”

Ray Barker, Director of the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) and Joint Chair of the Judges, comments: “The BETT Awards provide that much needed link between the ICT industry and the teaching community. The BETT Awards also play a key role in demonstrating how ICT can be embedded into subjects across the curriculum. The year-on-year rise in entries illustrates how important the BETT Awards have become in the eyes of teachers and suppliers alike.”
