Protests in France entered violent phase on Tuesday when young protesters could be seen throwing stones, bottles etc on the Riot Control Police. The Police is learnt to have retaliated with tear gas to disrupt the crowd, and not to mention many troublemakers have been arrested.
More than a million protesters took to streets demonstrating against a law that would allow an employer to fire an employee below 26 years of age, within first two years of employment without giving any reason.
The protests can be seen all over France; in Paris alone more than 300 protesters have been arrested by the police; in Northern city of Lille hundreds of youths smashed windows and destroyed vehicles.
According to Agency France-Pressea a female reporter was assaulted while filming the violence and a young man is reported to have suffered injuries from tear gas grenade. Protests have also been reported from the French island of Reunion where people marched against the law.
Daily life was disrupted on Tuesday as some offices, hospitals and shops were either closed or were working less efficiently. Transport service was also disrupted but the Paris metro was however on time.
The situation is not as worse as it was a week ago.
Meanwhile, the French Prime Minister Mr. De Villapin who notably never headed elective office has refused to bow to the protests. According to his claims a victory against unemployment is a victory for France, which could be achieved by enforcing the current law in discussion. Evidently he is facing serious criticism not only from the public nationwide but also in the National Assembly.
